E-Wallets
This is the most popular way of funding your online
accounts. Many e-wallets do not accept U.S. accounts
anymore. However, there are a few that spring up now and
again.
Of course you can use your credit card to deposit money into any poker site but then you'll probably have to wait for them to mail you a
cheque. You'll have to check with each poker site to find out the full details. If you have an
e-wallet you can request to have your winnings deposited
there. It usually takes 3-5 working days (again, check the details of your poker site of choice). Once your money is in your
e-wallet account you can have it transferred to your bank in 3-5 working days. If you're uncomfortable with using your existing bank account you could always open up a separate one just for online transactions.
To get your money out of your e-wallet depends on the
which e-wallet you use. The most popular ways are via
debit cards, EFT's and cheques.
With the new U.S. legislations it is increasingly
difficult for U.S. residents to obtain an e-wallet
account but there are a few other options that pop up
every now and then, how long they last depends on if and
when the U.S. government catches up with them. Some poker
sites are now accepting PayPal as funding options (for
select countries only).
Make sure you check out the 'FEES' section of each
e-wallet because the fees differ.
You can also read user posts in our forum.
If you reside in Asia, currently this is
the only E-wallet with EFT capabilities so not having a debit card
solution is not that big an issue. This e-wallet accepts payments from banks in Singapore,
namely UOB and DBS using eNets. Please check their website for more details. More and
more poker sites are accepting transactions from Moneybookers.com as well. The
fees are reasonable and currency conversions are done
within the e-wallet.
We recommend players use Moneybookers mainly because of
their EFT capabilities. The support players from many
countries as well as (instant) member to member
transfers. Click the banner above to check if your
country is supported. Funding methods also include credit
cards, check their website to see if yours is listed.
Neteller is still the largest e-wallet even after pulling
out of the U.S. market. They continue to grow mainly due
to their presence in almost all regions and almost all
online gaming sites still use their services. They have
customer support in other languages and support centers
around the world. They are also in the process of rolling
out a new debit card which will be the only method of
getting your money offline. Currently they do not allow
EFT's to asian banks. The fees are the lowest that we've
come across and they allow member to member transfers
which are instant. Funding methods also include credit
cards, check their website to see if yours is listed.
For all the ASIAN customers, CLICK2PAY allows you to
register an asian credit card issued by many asian banks. Please check their
website if yours is accepted. They also accept VISA and Mastercard. You also have a choice of languages that you can select for
their website. The coolest part is, according to their website, you do not
have to fund your account before using it. You are assigned a rating which
has a maximum spending limit. You can use up to that spending limit BEFORE
even funding your account. They then deduct the amount from your "default
payment method". You can also request for a debit card to withdraw funds
from your account. There is a $10 charge per card but no other fees
associated with the usage of the card other than what the ATM charges. The
fees are higher than usual and member to member transfers
are not allowed.
Epassporte claims to be able to EFT to U.S. banks. Many
poker sites accept transactions from Epassporte. However,
our attempts to open an account to test this capability
has failed. There have also been complaints of missing
funds, denied withdrawals.
